Copmanthorpe has extensive facilities for children, from nurseries to primary and junior schools with ‘before school’ and ‘after school’ clubs. The village falls within the catchment area of Tadcaster Grammar School.
Nurseries and Playgroups:
- Panda Playgroup, Sticky Mitts and Tiny Tots has been at the heart of Copmanthorpe village for over 40 years. It is a registered charity, run by a voluntary committee of trustees mainly made up of Panda parents and carers. - Sticky Mitts and Tiny Tots

- A qualified Early Years practitioner welcomes babies, toddlers and preschool children with their parents/carers to this drop in, stay and play facility. Tiny Tots can be weighed on the only baby scales in the village.
- The aim is to help parents find somewhere local, safe and welcoming to come and have fun with their children, meet other parents and get a taste of what Panda pre – school Playgroup has to offer
- A variety of toys and craft activities and a healthy snack are provided for children. Parents can enjoy refreshments and an opportunity to socialise. The session ends with a fun sing-a-long.

- Partnership with parents is good and parents are actively involved in their children’s learning
- Morning, lunch and afternoon sessions run 8.30am – 3.00pm from September, Monday-Friday.
- The aim is to provide children with the best support and care as they take their first steps towards starting school. Children are encouraged to pursue their own interests through free play as well as join in group activities such a snack, story and song time
- Sessions are very competitively priced and kept as low as possible. Funded places are available for 2, 3 and 4 year old children.
- Parents are encouraged to become part of the community through fundraising and other social and family activities..

Copmanthorpe Out of School Club
- The ‘kid’s club operates at the Recreation Centre and offers before and after school club care to children aged 4-11 who attend Copmanthorpe Primary School.
- They also run a holiday club that is open to children attending the Primary School from September, as well as those already attending. The Holiday Club runs through every holiday/break except Christmas.
